THE VOICE OF THE GOSPEL TAPE MINISTRY
During the past several years it has been my privilege to send audio cassette tapes to people in North and South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia and even to several islands in the South Pacific. These tapes contain half-hour radio Gospel messages which have been presented at various times to listeners of more than 30 radio stations. I am now completing my 53rd year of radio broadcasting the "Voice of the Gospel" programs. Most of the radio stations airing my programs have been located in the United States, the Caribbean, and one was located on a ship in the North Sea. At the present time I am broadcasting
from two stations in the United States, two from the Caribbean island of Carriacou, and one from the city of St. George's, capital of Grenada; and also from Kumasi, in the West African country of Ghana.
Over 47,000 taped Gospel messages have been sent out thus far, with more than 27,000 being sent to the West African country of Ghana, alone, during the past 12 years. One of the amazing facts involved in the commencement of requests for the tapes and other material from Ghana is that, theoretically, they should not be able to hear the broadcasts emanating from any of the radio stations carrying the programs. However, on one particular Lord's Day, about 12 years ago, the program was heard by listeners as far away as Scandinavia, Western Europe, and West Africa, and I soon received letters from these places indicating that the broadcast was heard in their particular areas. Surely, this had to be the work of a Sovereign and Omnipotent God ! We know that with God ALL things are possible, and that He is not willing that any should perish but that ALL should come to repentance, through the knowledge of the truth. (Mark 10:27; I Timothy 2:4; II Peter 3:9)
Insofar as Ghana is concerned, the cassette tapes have been requested and sent to more than 5,800 different people. In addition to the tapes, many thousands of Gospel tracts and many hundreds of lovely Bibles and New Testaments have also been sent to those requesting them. In many instances lately, especially if the requests come by e-mail instead of the postal service, I respond by telling the person requesting the materials to contact our missionaries in Ghana who can then present the Bibles, tapes or Gospel tracts to them, and also to witness to them "face to face". Other printed matter sent has included such material as the "Via" and "Moments for You" magazines, the "Two Roads" chart, and articles pertaining to specific questions sent in by both the saved and unsaved. I might add that answering some of their questions is very time-consuming, but the answers to their questions can often determine where they will be for all eternity or, in the case of the professing Christians, whether or not they will grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. (II Peter 3:18)
We know of at least 380 people in Ghana, alone, who have professed to be saved after hearing the tapes and/or reading the printed matter. Others have professed to be saved at "crusades," "cottage meetings," or in churches where the tapes are played as part of their regular services. Now I realize, from personal experience, that "profession" and "possession" are not synonymous terms, but my responsibility is to "Preach, Pray and Plug Away", and the rest I leave up to the Holy Spirit of God. That is His responsibility! And God is more concerned about precious souls than I could ever be. After all, it was God, in the person of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, Who has paid the price for the soul's redemption, by shedding His precious blood at the place called Calvary.
Friend, salvation is of God from beginning to end, and any so-called minister of the Gospel who encourages "easy believism", followed by an "altar call", is obviously blind to the truth of God's word which makes it quite clear that THERE CAN BE NO CONVERSION WITHOUT CONVICTION ! Only those who realize that they are spiritually-lost can possibly get saved. Yes, conviction of sin is just as essential to the salvation of a soul, as is the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. And I say that with the highest degree of reverence.
Some of the "follow up" literature sent to those who profess to be "born again" include one or more of the following booklets, or tracts, entitled "A Royal Birth", "12 Helps For Young Christians", "How To Have Victory In The Christian Life", "12 Bottles Of Milk For New Believers", and "Counsel To Young Converts".
Up until the present time, in addition to sending the above-mentioned items, I've also sent pocket calendars with suitable Scriptures; and "Truth Coins" which are metal coins imprinted with such Scriptures as John 3:3, John 3:16, Exodus 20:12, Proverbs 16:16, Luke 6:31, etc. Another popular item, sent especially to the young, are the "Scripture Badges" made of metal and having a "safety pin" clip on the back. Some of the well-known Gospel Verses such as Matthew 11:28, John 3:16, and Romans 6:23 are imprinted on the front of the beautiful circular badges.
It is gratifying to know that in some places, the audio cassette tapes are kept in church libraries and dispensed as if they were books. Only eternity and the Judgment Seat of Christ will reveal the true and full value of the tape and literature ministry in Ghana, and throughout the world. In any case, if really led by the Holy Spirit of God, whatever we do is done to bring honor and glory to our God and His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ ! (I Corinthians 10:31 and Colossians 3:17,22-24)
The purpose of the "Ghanaian Project" is not only to see precious souls saved, but also to see them gathered unto the name and person of our Lord Jesus Christ for public worship, praise, and ministry of the word of God. (Matthew 18:20 I Corinthians 5:4; Psalms 50:5; Psalms 100:4; Hebrews 13:13,15) The first viable assembly has been having regular meetings in the Boateng Memorial School located in Buokrom Estate area near the city of Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. In February, 2002, Joseph Frimpong, commended by the assembly in Burlington, Ontario, Canada, arrived in his homeland, Ghana, as the first assembly missionary to serve there full time. Please pray for him and his work for the Lord in Ghana. (Note: People living in Ghana, West Africa, may contact Joseph Frimpong directly at P.O. Box KS 13469 in the city of Kumasi; by phone at 024-348-4045, OR at his e-mail address which is "Jfrimpong@eol.ca")
We must also report that both Joseph and his wife and co-worker, Heather, returned to Canada for health reasons, including the recent birth of their lovely daughter, Emma; but they are all now back in Ghana.
The other faithful and full-time missionary to Ghana, who has been commended by an assembly in Westbank, British Columbia, Daniel Webster; has seen a remarkable work being achieved there, especially among the young people who attend his special meetings. Many of these youngsters have memorized the entire Biblical Book of Ephesians. (Daniel Webster can be contacted by mail sent to him at P.O. Box KS 13469 in the city of Kumasi, GHANA; by 'phone at 024-325-1081, or by e-mail sent to "firstname.lastname@example.org".)
I have become very close to many of the Ghanaians, and in my home office/studio I have over 200 pictures of some who have received material from the ministry. Yes, I love the people of Ghana, and many of those who profess to be saved have continued to correspond with me up to the present time. Some of the people who have requested, and received, material from me are very poor, yet some have been so appreciative and kind enough as to send me hand-crafted gifts, including several beautiful strips of six-foot long pieces of "Kente" cloth, a product for which they are world-renown.
At the present time, I have many pages of excerpts of letters received from people worldwide, mostly from people in Africa, and I will be happy to send some of these excerpts to anyone upon request.
In both the United States and Canada, the taped Gospel messages have been dispensed at such places as "flea markets", "conferences of Christians", and at "cottage meetings". They can also be presented to unsaved friends or relatives who refuse, or are reluctant, to go to a place where the Gospel is preached. The unsaved person can listen to the tapes in the comfort and privacy of their own home, or automobile. Friend, we should never underestimate the power of God's word, when used by the ungrieved Holy Spirit of God.
Finally, it is incumbent upon me to acknowledge, without naming names, the practical and prayerful support of fellow Christians, especially throughout the United States and Canada, who make this tape, radio, and web site ministry possible. We know that the Lord's return is imminent, therefore their support, characterized by modesty, their love for lost souls, as well as their positive response to the Holy Spirit of God, assures them a full recompense of reward at the obviously, fast-approaching Judgment Seat of Christ.
